Why Is Displaying Your USDOT Number Decal Correctly on Your Commercial Vehicle So Important?
Displaying your US DOT & other applicable regulation numbers outside of your commercial vehicle is extremely important to be FMCSA & DOT Compliant.
On April 16th 2015, A Texas State Trooper pulled over a freight truck. Upon the completion of the inspection, the trooper determined that the truck and chassis were in stellar condition, but the company received an “inspection violation” because the enforcement official determined that the decals for two digits of the truck’s USDOT number were torn and unreadable. Instead of just a warning to get the decals fixed or even a “fix-it ticket” the enforcement official issued a violation.
You never know when you’ll be stopped by DOT and get hammered with a ticket or violation. Better be safe than sorry and display all of your regulation numbers neatly outside of your truck.
