New York City Vehicle Lettering Decals Requirements | USDOT Number Decal Tips
In the city of New York, USDOT lettering has to follow certain regulations.
If you are using your vehicle for commercial use or any vehicle that is designed or modified for the transportation of goods or services must follow these rules.
You must display the legal name of the business that owns the vehicle and the business address along with your USDOT number.
The difference is that your lettering must be 3 inches in height compared to 2 inches to the rest of United States.
Remember, 3 inch lettering or larger or you will get a fine.
Also, your lettering must be visible from at least 50 feet away and must contrast with the color of your vehicle.
Also, it must be permanently displayed, which means you can use a decal. You cannot use a marker on a paper and temporarily put it on the vehicle. This will also get you in trouble.
