States That Require A DOT Number and State Number (CA, TXDOT, KYU)
If you're a super trucker, you might already know this information, but for the new guys, this map is good start. Most states require you display your DOT number if you are doing interstate business, while some other higher regulated states require an additional number if you are doing business in their state. Let's take a closer look. Let's say you're a heavy hauler from Seattle and is going to deliver a load to Los Angeles, CA. You would have to have a US DOT number, you also must enroll in the Oregon weight-mile tax program (since you will travel through Oregon) and also have a CA number (CHP) since you will be doing business and traveling in California's Roads. Your truck decal set up would look something like this.
