Regulations For Displaying A US DOT Number | Size and Location Requirements
The US DOT (US Department of Transportation) requires motor carriers operating in interstate commerce to display their business name and their unique US DOT number on both sides of the commercial vehicle. The US DOT number is usually displayed on the truck door but it can be anywhere on the vehicle that is visible. The US DOT lettering must contrast with the color of the vehicle and it must be at least 2 inches and height and visible from a distance of at least 50 feet.
